Submission Guidelines

February 1, 2010

Praxis is now accepting submissions for fiction, non-fiction, essays, interviews, and poetry.

While we prefer pieces that have a humorous edge to them, we also love work that leaves an impression. Be daring, be quirky. Be fresh and unexpected. Make us sit up and take notice. Please be advised: we are NOT interested in religious rants or stories that are violent, pornographic, racist, or homophobic in nature.

Prose: We are interested in essays, short stories, creative non-fiction, and self-contained novel excerpts with a length of 2,500 words or less.

Poetry: You may submit up to four poems at once.

Interviews: Please query us before sending an interview.

For all submissions, please include the following info in your email…

1. Your name
2. Your preferred e-mail address (and note whether or not you want it posted)
3. A short bio (about 50 words or less)
4. Your homepage and links to some of your other work online (if applicable)

You will retain the copyrights to your material, and your bio, links, and e-mail will be included with your work.

We are unable to pay for your submission at this time.

To submit, send your word document (no .pdf or .docx files, please) bio and a small head shot to andie@praxismagazine.com.

Editor’s Ramblings

New Look, Same Magazine

In the immortal words of the Brady kids:

When it's time to change, then it’s time to change
Don't fight the tide, come along for the ride, don't you see
When it's time to change, you've got to rearrange
Who you are into what you're gonna be

With the help of writer and webmaster Ian Shane, we have given ourselves a makeover. It was surprisingly easy and relatively painless. On the inside, we are still the same magazine. On the outside, we are slightly more fabulous.

Praxis takes pride in featuring established and up-and-coming writers. We are always looking for new material and fresh voices. Check out our submission guidelines to get an idea of the kind of work we are looking for, and peruse our stories to get a feel for what we like.

We update our content regularly, so read voraciously and check back often.

Cheers!
